This is vey humbling for me. Here goes...August 21, 2025, my heart stopped beating. Thankfully it happened while I was at work and we are all CPR certified. The girls saw me go down and immediately began CPR and applied the AED and called 911. A team of 10 first responders arrived and took it from there. By the time I arrived at BaylorScott&White Heart Center, I had been without a heartbeat for about 25 minutes. The outlook was grim. The doctors were baffled. All my arteries are clear with no blockage, thank God, but they had no idea what caused the cardiac arrest. Regardless, I had the most amazing care in the ICU for 4 days and on the floor for another 3 days. My cardiologist called it heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (scary words) and placed a defibrillator in my chest to shock my heart back to rhythm, should this happen again. My cardiologist also told my sister I am less than 1% who not only survive, but survive with all my marbles. Truly a miracle. Every single doctor I have seen since, and there have been many, has asked me if I believe in God because someone has a bigger plan for me, as I shouldn't have survived this. Yes, I believe and yes, I am so grateful. I have no insurance. I have applied for financial assistance and it is pending. I have zero income at this time. I applied for SSDI and have been told if approved, it will take 6 months to a year to go into effect. I have also been told I can apply for Social Security early retirement in February, but that is months away. Meanwhile, medical bills are mounting and I have about 3 months of day to day expenses in the bank. In a nutshell, I died. God said not yet, and I am asking for help financially, if you are able. I have a long road ahead of me and I am so thankful to be here to trudge it. Prayers are welcomed and so appreciated as well. With much love, Susan
