My name is Jody Henderson, and I’m raising funds on behalf of my incredible sister, Susan Henderson Pierce—a brave, resilient, and deeply talented woman who is fighting to rebuild her health and her life after years of quiet suffering.
Just over a year ago, Susan was diagnosed with a melanoma on her forehead. It was a frightening diagnosis made even more devastating by the fact that her then-husband isolated her and would not support her medical treatment.
A native of Tulsa, Susan is a nationally recognized voice talent, known for her warmth, clarity, and compassion in her work. But in leaving that 24-year relationship, she also had to leave behind her recording equipment—her livelihood. She walked away with her freedom, but without her income.
Since then, Susan has shown extraordinary courage. She’s undergone surgery to remove the melanoma and two additional skin cancers (a basal cell carcinoma and a squamous cell carcinoma). Thankfully, all three cancers were successfully removed. But now, her doctors are strongly recommending immunotherapy to keep the melanoma from returning. This treatment offers the best chance of long-term health— but it comes with a staggering cost, even after insurance.
We’re trying to raise $20,000 to cover the cost of Susan’s immunotherapy over the next year. These funds will allow her to focus on healing, without the crushing burden of how to afford the care she desperately needs.
Susan is slowly but surely remembering who she was before the fear and isolation—a creative, funny, generous soul who brought light into every room. She is rediscovering her voice, not just as a career, but as a woman. We want her to have the future she deserves: one that is healthy, hopeful, and fully her own.
If you’re able to give—any amount at all—we are deeply grateful. And if you can’t donate, please consider sharing this campaign. Your support means everything right now.
With love and hope,
Jody Henderson
