Support Susan’s Battle Against ALS

Susan is a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who has dedicated her life to helping others through her work at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital. A little over a year ago, Susan began experiencing extreme pain in the ligament in her left foot, eventually causing foot drop and her inability to walk freely. After a year of testing at various doctors and specialists, Susan was diagnosed with ALS. For those that are unfamiliar with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as “Lou Gehrig's Disease,” it is the progressive degeneration of motor neurons in the brain, ultimately leading to atrophy of all voluntary muscles. This results in complete paralysis and eventually the inability to eat and breathe independently.  

Despite her devastating diagnosis, Susan remains full of joy and trusts in God’s plan for her life. We are all praying for her miraculous healing and firmly believe that God can heal her with one word if it is His will. Nevertheless, we are building this GoFundMe account to assist with the expenses anticipated in the difficult journey ahead.

ALS is not only one of the most physically devastating diseases but also one of the most financially draining. In addition to tackling mounting medical bills, Susan’s immediate needs include making accommodations to the entryway, stairs, and bathroom in their home. Eventually, additional support will be needed for handicap equipment and home health care. (On average, an ALS patient pays between $52,000 - $100,000 annually on home health care.)

First and foremost, we are asking for prayers for Susan and her family. Additionally, if you can find it in your heart to ease the financial strain on Susan and her family, they would be greatly relieved. Thank you in advance for your prayers, generosity, and support.
