My name is Sergio Silverio and I am the husband of Susana Silverio and together we have 3 beautiful girls, aged 13, 16, and 20.

Our lives changed almost 8 years ago when Susana was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. It started with a kidney stone like pain, and a visit to the emergency showed a grapefruit sized mass.. Within a couple of days she had undergone hysterectomy surgery. There's a reason why Ovarian Cancer is known a the silent killer, there are usually no signs until its already progressed to later stages, and it was no different for her.

We were lucky enough to land an appointment with the lead Ovarian Cancer researcher at MSKCC, in the beginning and have been under her care since then. In and out of Chemotherapy sessions, at the beginning she would go to work, take a cab to Chemo, and return to work. This woman is an absolute trooper. Chemo took a toll on her, it would wipe her complete out for days at a time, and she would slowly perk up to carry on the job of a wife, a mom, a daughter, a sister, etc, like nothing ever happened.

Her personality is absolutely contagious. Those who know her know this well. People just gravitate toward her. We need more people like her.

Fast forward to mid 2023, the chemotherapies that had once kept the disease in check, stopped keeping it in check. And the disease has progressed to her lungs and liver. She has been on a oxygen concentrator since the very first day of 2024. And recently a multiple point intestinal blockage, has been the latest development that has led her to the next phase of this disease.

Needless to say the medical expenses have been quickly mounting. Yes we have insurance, and like everything else, we keep paying higher premiums, higher deductibles and less coverage. Any fund raised here will go towards that end.

She wants all who know her, to remember her as she was.
