Support Susan Davies: Urgent Housing & Basic Needs

Donation protected
Susan Davies, my mother, is 64 years old and facing an urgent housing and financial crisis. For the past nine years, she worked as an Uber driver. Upon acquiring a rental car (her typical process), the app stopped working for her, and Uber customer support unfortunately left her without a resolution, leaving her unable to earn any income and forcing her to return the rental. With no savings and living paycheck to paycheck (from Uber earnings alone), Susan has no safety net to fall back on. As a 1099 worker with Uber, she does not have access to benefits or protections.

As of February 13, 2026, she is without transportation, making her situation even more precarious. Susan lives alone, and as her only living child, I am unable to financially support her or provide direct day-to-day support.

As a social worker, I am helping her connect to available resources, but these processes take time—time she simply does not have right now. Currently, Susan has minimal funds in her accounts. I was able to help her avoid eviction previously, but I am no longer able to do so without the support of others. The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward Susan’s most urgent needs: paying upcoming rent to prevent eviction, keeping her phone service active so she can stay connected, covering transportation costs, and providing food and necessities. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference in her life and help her get through this incredibly difficult period.

To the community, I am seeking mutual aid support for my mother as she faces this emergent crisis. I recognize the shared chaos we are all currently experiencing and extend my heartfelt appreciation for any support you may be able to offer. Your kindness and generosity will help Susan find stability and hope as she navigates these challenging times.

The short to long-term plan is to connect my mom/Susan with resources and support from The Maryland Department of Aging, Department of Social Services, Medicare, 211, Housing and Community Resources for Seniors, Disability and Social Security, while looking at options for future employment.

02/13/2026: Update: It has now been approximately a month, and there has been no resolution from Uber. My mom is focused on submitting job applications for openings near her apartment in Timonium. She will be without transportation at this time. We currently have approximately $600 remaining that will go towards her basic needs, bills between now and March, and we are hopeful she will have employment soon. She is now connected with MAP (Maryland Access Point).

02/05/2026 Update: $1,500 has been applied to pay mom's rent balance for January and February, thanks to your help and support! We are working with Uber to see if she will be able to restore her account, in which case she is hopeful she may be able to start earning again, while working towards completing applications for future employment. She was approved for Medicare with a start date of April 1st, which is a huge relief! We are working towards researching alternative housing options that may be more affordable and offer ease of accessibility and community.
