Sarianna is the definition of a survivor. Her battle with cancer started around the time she turned 5 years old.
Cancer diagnosis #1- At age 5 Sarianna was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, with tumors all over her body. She went through almost a year of intense chemo, full body radiation, and a stem cell transplant. She was the first to receive this protocol and is the longest living person. She still had 4 spots in her body when they finished the treatment, they assumed those would continue to grow. For the next 7 years they fought hard to get her body to grow and watched as those spots slowly disappeared.
She entered remission at age 12.
Cancer diagnosis #2- In the fall of 2018, at age 30, Sarianna was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer. Her thyroid was removed and she received radiation.
Cancer diagnosis #3- One year later, in 2019 they found a cancerous spot in her breast. Breast Cancer. She went through surgery, a double mastectomy. This was to hopefully avoid radiation.
Cancer treatment- During the course of treating the Breast Cancer the doctors started DNA testing. They found genetic markers for Ovarian Cancer. Though Ovarian Cancer wasn't in her body yet, they did a full hysterectomy to prevent Ovarian, Cervical, and Uterine, and other types of cancers in that area of the body. This decision was a proactive decision.
Cancer Diagnosis #4- Another year later, December of 2020, they found a spot on her left lung. After rigorous testing, with complications, she officially received the diagnosis. Lung Cancer. The bad news is she needs another surgery to remove it. The good news is that it is localized to one area and the doctors should be able to eradicate the cancer.
Sarianna and her husband Alex are truly survivors. They have been blessed with the strength to fight. The long battle with cancer is exhausting: physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially. Their last two and half years have been filled with medical bills, which they have quietly tried to manage.
Alex and Sarianna are not asking for help. As the people that love them, we are asking. We cannot remove the physical, mental, or emotional load, but we can help with the financial stress. Luckily they have decent insurance but because of the testing and complications they are already trying to find a way to pay for their out-of-pocket maximum.
We recognize not all can help financially. We hope you can offer prayers, fasting, and positive vibes as Sarianna prepares for another surgery and recovery. We are so very thankful for each of you and for the love and support you have given during this time. God Bless.
