For over a year, I've had a pain in my neck and right shoulder blade. I thought I pulled something. Fast forward to May of this year. X-rays showed a narrowing of my cervical spine. I was sent to physical therapy. After 8 weeks of no relief, the PT recommended I have a follow-up appointment with my primary provider. Then they ordered an MRI. The results showed nerve damage caused by the degeneration of my C6-C7. I was then referred to a neurosurgeon at Bronson Methodist. The neurosurgeon recommended a fusion surgery that will most definitely help me. My surgery is scheduled for October 7.
I haven't been with my employer for a year until January 26, so I am not eligible for short-term disability nor FMLA. So, in order for me to have the surgery to improve my condition, I will be without pay from the middle of October until the middle of December.
I'm asking for a little assistance, if any, to help me and my family get by..
