We are faced with a common and yet complex wildlife rescue scenario. For clarity we are not looking for debate or opinions- but we are presented with this Red Fox that has some severe injuries that in many cases would mandate euthanasia. But this young 12 week old Wild Fox is resilient and demonstrating that he has great interest to thrive. We have obtained a half dozen DVM and rehabber reviews and we have one highly qualified in state surgeon that says they can do state of the art surgery and that this fox could heal and be releasable in five weeks. These are revised and new techniques that I have not seen in my wildlife career so there is value in this as a test case to show new opportunities and treatments. These problem is fiscal as the non-profit discounted rate of the surgeries and treatment is approaching $7000!
But we decided to go ahead with this surgery Tuesday it will take a village to fund it as that amount is just over what I have already donated for all the rest of my wildlife rescue activities in 2025!
We think we have answered the surgical and quality of life issue but now the fiscal issue become an important part of the equation
