My name is James Buchmann and I have been an animal lover my entire life. I have volunteered for rescues and fostered many cats over the years, including some dogs. I have 3 cats of my own, Pizza, Skreetch, and Kappo. Skreetch and Kappo were both rescues that I rehabilitated and ended up adopting.
Back in September, I was driving home from work when suddenly the car in front of me jerked aggressively on the road. As my eyes tracked the erratic car movement, I noticed out of the corner of my eye a cat lying down on the road. I suddenly jerked the car erratically and pulled over to get the cat out of the road. It was a 2-month-old kitten laying flat on the road, terrified, exhausted, and hurt. I brought the cat home and gave her a private space to be examined and rest. This cat was severely malnourished, had a skin infection, cuts and scrapes, fleas, worms, and a paralyzed leg. I spent weeks rehabbing the cat to health and her spirit showed me she was full of happiness and life. Once she was healthy, I brought her to the vet to have her back leg examined and it was deemed useless and the vet suggested amputation. That cat maneuvers, runs, and plays just like any other kitten, but it's very noticeable the paralyzed leg gets in the way of her stride and puts added strain on her back and spine. She will have a much better quality of life with the leg removed. I am looking to raise money to cover the medical costs of surgery and her post-rehabilitation so I can find her the forever home she deserves. This cat has brought so much joy and laughs to my life and I know she will make people happy for a long time.
