Support Superman through his biggest battle!
Hi there! My name is Kelsey Wages & myself alongside ALL of Kurt's friends wanted to create a fundraiser of some sort to assist in medical bills he has and will still receive! At first we we had ideas to do something along the lines of a fishing tournament, boat race or BBQ competition *AKA* all things that scream KURT! Unfortunately, with Covid and all of us being spread out across the Nation we decided this platform would be best!
If you know Kurt, you don't even need me to explain WHY a helping hand/fundraiser is even needed-- but if you don't, I will lay it out there for you! Kurt is one the most selfless men we all know! He is ALWAYS willing to help a family member, friend or anyone for that matter out! Kurt always has a smile on his face and is the life of all get togethers, and an all around great Husband, Father, Uncle, & friend! We know he has fought some very hard fights over the years, yet this may just be his hardest. While he heals, let's help out in a monetary way. Please keep the prayers coming for him as he navigates this part of the journey. We know The Lord works miracles every single day, we need him to hear our prayers!
Kurt’s story from his wife, Chalee...
6/24/21:
As most know my husband has been dealing with cancer for 2 years started with lung and then found 2 small areas on spine last year. Few years before that lots of skin cancers with one area on arm requiring a lot of radiation. Lungs and spine all treated with radiation therapy and chemo.
Lung lesions no longer present in recent PET Scan but has tumor still at T12 to L1, along with new areas at L3 and L4 of spine. He had a kyphoplasty procedure done few months ago at T12 and L1 due to a fracture he got from falling. About 1 to 2 weeks after getting kyphoplasty he started hurting really bad so ordered PET Scan and that's when the new tumors at L3 and L4 was found. He has been having excruciating back pain for a long time now that has progressively gotten worse. He finished another round of radiation Wednesday this week.
We had consultation at UAMS 6/24/21 with neurosurgeon and they admitted him to have back surgery tomm.(6/25/21) morning. The doctor said he was going to remove part of spine at T12 and replace with rods and pins. He said the kyphoplasty was putting too much pressure on his spine so doing this would hopefully give him pain relief ♀️ I asked if would do ablation on tumor at T12 and L1 since he was not able to get radiation to that area this time. He said he would try to burn the tumor but wasn't sure how much of it he could get to, but said definitely not all of it . From 2012 to present he has been through a lot (boat wreck, dialysis, kidney transplant(Kurt got took off transplant list so our hero Kenny Witek saved his life donating one of his kidneys grateful), skin cancer excisions, skin grafts, radiation 4 diff times 3 of those radiation rounds in past 2 years, kyphoplasty procedure, bone biopsies, lung biopsies, and tomm a serious back surgery. Prayers for him a safe surgery with no complications, instant pain relief that's long lasting, a miracle from God to heal his tumors. It's time for a break. Thank you.

He is out of surgery, in process of going to recovery for 2 hours. The surgery went as planned. Doctor placed rod and screws from T10 to L3 said the radiation he got has already shrunk the tumors some and that he was able to do ablation "burn" some of the tumor at T12 to L1. Thank you for all the prayers for him.

Kurt is home from the hospital!! With the help of HH and physical and occupation therapy he prays for a speedy recovery, he will get another PET scan in 2 months to see if tumors are still present. If so, will inquire about additional radiation treatment. Prayers much needed and appreciated for him to heal and be cancer free...

Thank you all for the prayers for my husband Kurt Mourer. He had back surgery 6/25 and the recovery is not what we expected. He is still having a lot of pain and trouble with his legs burning. His appetite is not that good either. Please continue to pray for him to heal. Feel free to place on church prayer list, prayer chain. Much thanks and love from us..
Therapy starts this week, hopeful this will help him get stronger. He started taking this stuff called Cantron yesterday, hoping this helps him.
