Hello, I'm Lauren and this is my sweet, sassy, and energetic pup, Sunny. She's an 11.5-year-old Terrier mix that I adopted from a shelter when she was only 3 months old. She loves to play and run even into her golden years. If she knows you, she'll greet you with some cries, tail wags, and jumps. If she doesn't know you, a simple tortilla chip can easily fix that.
Time has caught up to Sunny and though she still wants to jump and run, her knees have started to weaken. One day while out for a walk, I let her off leash and said, "Run Sunny, be free!" When you tell Sunny to run, she'll do it! While in a sprint, she let out a big cry and started to limp. After a visit to the vet, along with an X-ray, it was determined Sunny had torn her ACL aka CCL. Never in my wildest dreams I thought that could happen to her but here we are. Sunny will have to have surgery to repair her knee.
As you can imagine, the procedure is pretty expensive. $5,500 to $6,000 depending on the severity of the damage. No pet insurance as she is a relatively healthy dog. I ask for some help from the people who have met/know/love Sunny and want to see her get back on four legs.
As we wait for her procedure date, Sunny continues to want to play, jump, and run which is a good sign!!! She's not ready to slow down nor does she want to. Anything will help and thank you to the people that do!
