The unthinkable has happened

​on Thursday, November 20, 2025, our lives were suddenly turned upside down. My husband and the loving father of our 7-year-old son, Sunny, was unexpectedly detained by ICE during what was supposed to be a routine immigration check-in.

​For the past 14 years, Sunny has faithfully checked in with DHS, building a life here, contributing to our community, and raising our son. This sudden detention, based on the deeply complicated and tragic status of being a stateless person—meaning he is not legally a citizen of any country—has ripped him away from us without warning.

​Sunny is the cornerstone of our family. His detention has left me, our 7-year-old son, and my disabled mother—who relies on me for her daily care—to navigate an impossible situation on our own.

​I recently suffered an injury at work, making it incredibly challenging to handle the demands of caring for my mother, raising our son, and now, fighting for Sunny's release while preparing for a necessary, life-changing move.

​After countless prayers and difficult decisions, we have a path forward. We will be reuniting with Sunny in Mexico. This is not just a temporary visit; this is our commitment to keep our family whole. Our goal is to join him and build our new life together there in the very near future.

​We are asking for your urgent help to cover two critical areas that will allow us to achieve this reunion. Legal fees and the transition to Mexico.

This transition is the only way to heal the hole in our family.
