Sunni Malek has been a loving, free spirited and exuberant force of nature as long as we can remember. Her unique sense of humor and style leave an impression with all who know her. Her outgoing nature is a direct reflection of her desire to connect with and uplift all she meets.
Sunni has always been fiercely independent regarding her finances and lifestyle. Consistently managing to make her own way working in the dental field, running her own business and raising her daughter.
In 1996 she had her first experience with breast cancer resulting in lumpectomy, radiation and chemo. Apparently cured, she went on believing all was well. Then in 2011 a lump in the other breast brought the specter of cancer and another lumpectomy, radiation and course of chemo. Once again she went on believing all was well until in 2017 the cancer was back and this time radiation was not an option. Double mastectomy followed by reconstruction and more chemo was the arduous course to follow in 2018.
Sunni is a survivor in more ways than one! She loves life and wants to live it to it's fullest expression while she can. Throughout her struggles with cancer she has always returned to work and her life. Towards the end of 2018 and the beginning of 2019 she began to feel shortness of breath and overwhelmingly weak. Initially her physicians didn't know what to make of her symptoms. She was suffering from severe anemia, low platelets and immature white blood cells. A bone marrow biopsy diagnosed Myelodysplastic syndrome most likely resulting from the chemotherapy that had saved her years earlier.
Now Sunni is faced with mounting medical bills and the inability to work as before. A bone marrow transplant is not an option due to her age. Stem cell therapy is expensive and experimental therefore not covered by medical insurance.
We are appealing for donations toward Sunni's treatments and medical bills. If financial contribution isn't possible we ask for your prayers, Reiki and generally keeping her in your thoughts. Sunni is a survivor and with your help she may live life to its fullest. Love and Light to all of you!
