Sundara Indian Restaurant & Cafe began as a dream rooted in family, culture, and a love of sharing Indian food with our community. What started as a small catering business, and later a takeout-focused restaurant in Arlington, Virginia, grew because of the incredible support from guests who believed in our food, our values, and our vision.

After years of serving Arlington and the greater DMV area, we made the difficult but intentional decision to close our original location so we could take the next step—opening our dream full-service restaurant. This new space allows us to better share Indian food, culture, and hospitality, and to create a place where people can gather for everyday meals, celebrations, and special moments.

Like many small businesses, our journey hasn’t been without challenges. Delays with the new space, beyond our control, forced us to remain closed for over a year, eliminating our operating income during that time. As we moved closer to opening, unavoidable increases in renovation and build-out costs made the final phase more difficult than we anticipated.

We’re asking for support to help us cover renovation expenses, kitchen build-out costs, equipment, and final touches needed to open our doors. Every contribution—no matter the size—helps us move closer to welcoming our community back to the table.
