Today we're raising funds to help support Summer's Family during Adira's medical emergency.

On the afternoon of Friday August 15th, 16 year old Adira suddenly fell ill and was rushed by ambulance to the Emergency department at Gerald Phelps Community Hospital. After hours of diagnostic testing the medical team discovered Pulmonary Embolism (blood clots) in both lungs. The medical staff immediately arranged a helicopter transfer to UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in Oakland, but was then ambulance transferred to the UCSF Children's campus in San Francisco. Summer, Adira's mother, was not able to accompany by helicopter, and followed by car.

Shortly after arrival, Adira was admitted to surgery, where unfortunately some dramatic complications unfolded. As of today, Sunday August 17th, Adira has woken from a medically induced coma, and is conscious but fragile. At this time things are touch and go, and we have no clear information on how long Summer and Adira will need to remain at UCSF, or what the road to recovery looks like.

Summer is a hard working mother and well known community member who will be out of work for an undetermined amount of time while she remains by Adira's side. Any support you are able to give will help this family stay afloat while they navigate life in San Francisco, maintaining their home in Miranda, and any of the plethora of unforeseen expenses that may occur as a result of Adira's condition and ongoing care needs.
