This is my sister Summer. Some time last year, she used to love going hiking with my brother in law until she started feeling shortness of breath, so she stopped and during that process went to the doctor and got diagnosed with asthma. The shortness of breath wasn’t that bad up until about six months ago, but it got really bad a few days ago. She has had shortness of breath, swollen ankles, lightheadedness, etc. during work throughout the past few days. On Tuesday (June 17), that very night, she was admitted to the ER because she couldn’t take it anymore. It all got so bad. On Wednesday (June 18), we went to visit her and the cardiologist came in and diagnosed her with pulmonary hypertension. This disease is sadly incurable. She can get treatment for it but won’t be cured of it. Yesterday (June 19) she told us she is having surgery to measure her heart pressure with a heart stent. It’s a small tube inserted into a narrowed or blocked artery to help keep it open and improve blood flow to the heart. She got that procedure done today (June 20). They said the right side of her heart has severe pressure. They moved her to the ICU and put her on medication to monitor how she responds to the medication. She’s going to lose her job and her insurance. She’s going to be on expensive medicine for the rest of her life. We appreciate everyone’s prayers and support that can give it.
