Support Summer Lunches for Local Youth!

THANK YOU!!! We have reached our goal- thanks to the community's generosity! We are so very grateful! This fundraiser is now closed. Stay tuned this summer for complete details on our free lunch program.

The Friends of the Bernardsville Public Library would like to make simple lunches available to youth again this summer who may need them.

Last summer we were able to provide hundreds of free lunches to the community!

More than 250 children in the Somerset Hill School District are eligible for free and reduced lunches. Unfortunately the library is ineligible for the USDA summer lunch program, as it requires a 50% student need. As these children and others may be facing greater food insecurity during the summer months, the Friends of the Library would like to fill this gap.

Based on participation in other public libraries' lunch programs, we plan to provide 20 lunches per day. We will not ask for any documentation from recipients, and The Food Bank Network of Somerset County is once again willing to facilitate bulk purchasing assistance for this program to assist with overall costs.

The bagged lunches will include a simple sandwich, a fruit item, a napkin, and a water. This will cost about $63.00 per day.

Can you help us raise $4,600 to provide this option for six days per week over ten weeks?

Thank you for your generosity last summer and thank you in advance for any support you are able to offer.
