Sumalee has been living with a terminal illness called Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), which has taken away much of her independence. She has lost most of her ability to walk, and even simple tasks like eating, swallowing, and talking have become daily challenges. As her condition progresses, she will eventually need a feeding tube and will require even more support. Despite these hardships, Sumalee’s spirit remains strong, and she is surrounded by people who care deeply for her.
Sumalee is currently at home, where she is cared for by her devoted boyfriend of over 25 years, Donna as her full-time caregiver, and an additional part-time caregiver. The goal is to keep her comfortable at home for as long as possible, surrounded by familiar faces and the things she loves. Unfortunately, her insurance company has denied coverage for an external catheter, a piece of equipment that would make a significant difference in her daily comfort and care. This equipment would not only help prevent complications but also allow her boyfriend to get much-needed rest at night. Most importantly, it would give Sumalee the chance to enjoy outings to the ocean and mountains, places that bring her joy and peace.
By supporting this fundraiser, you are helping Sumalee maintain her dignity and quality of life during an incredibly difficult time. Every contribution will go directly toward purchasing the external catheter and supporting her ongoing care needs. Your kindness will help keep her at home, surrounded by love, and able to experience the moments that matter most.
