Donate to SUMAIYA's College Education Dream

Hello. My name is Kara Nossardi and I started this fundraiser to help a very special young woman from Tanzania, Sumaiya Jumanne, realize her dream of attending college in the United States.
I met Sumaiya in 2021 when she was awarded a coveted academic scholarship to spend a year as a high school exchange student in the United States. During that time, I experienced firsthand what a brilliant, warm, funny, and hardworking young woman Sumaiya truly is.
The photos on this page are from her time living in Colorado - where Sumaiya attended school, volunteered in the community with developmentally disabled adults, learned how to swim, rode a bike for the first time, tried her hand at driving a car, and expanded her world in ways unavailable to her back home in Tanzania.
Sumaiya's lifelong dream is to attend college and, ultimately, become a physician. In her hometown of Tabora, Tanzania, it is very difficult for young women to attend university and progress beyond secondary school. Despite the odds and barriers, Sumaiya remains committed to furthering her education and returning home to contribute to her community. What makes her goal even more amazing is that Sumaiya will be the FIRST IN HER FAMILY TO ATTEND COLLEGE. And while she comes from a loving and supportive family, they struggle financially and cannot afford to pay for her education.
This is where you come in, dear donor.... ANY AMOUNT you can give will be GREATLY APPRECIATED...$25, $50, $100, or whatever works for you! This first goal is to raise enough for Sumaiya to complete her first year of college in the United States.
To close, I'd like to share a few words from Sumaiya:
"My biggest dream since my childhood was to study in the United States of America and become a professional surgeon. As a student, I am the type of individual who looks for adventure and academic challenges. My passion for learning started early, therefore I can say that this will be a dream come true for me if given the chance.
I’m afraid that my dream is going to be shattered because I have no money to pay for my college expenses since I come from a very poor family.
I will be so glad and thankful if I could find someone who can help me out so that I can get a chance to fulfill my dreams and life goals. I promise to study so hard and never let down anyone who will be willing to help me in any way." ~Sumaiya Jumanne, June 2023
THANK YOU for learning about Sumaiya’s dream, and THANK YOU FOR DONATING to her education. I know, without a doubt, that she will work hard to make us all proud.
