We're the Ransome family--Billy, Tayler and our little man Sully. Sully was diagnosed at 20 weeks with a rare condition that ultimately caused his kidneys to fail. He has been on dialysis since he was 9 months old (he is now nearly 19 months old). Our ultimate goal is for him to receive a kidney transplant, but children only receive adult kidneys, and he is not quite big enough for this life-changing surgery yet. In the meantime, we are balancing his 10 hour dialysis treatments every night, his g-tube feeding schedule, injections, 19 medication doses and multiple other therapies in our day to day lives. Once Sullivan began dialysis, Billy stepped away from work to help Tayler provide in-home medical care for Sully. Needless to say, it has been a steep learning curve. To make ends meet, we sold our home, moved in with Tayler's family and have been living off our savings account for Sully's dialysis season. It has now been almost a year and we just received news that Sully is further from his transplant than initially thought--initial guesses had given us hope it would be this fall. This fundraiser is to close the gap for our family leading up to and during his kidney transplant, however far away it may be.
