My name is Sulaiman Nuriddin. I am a 20-year survivor of prostate cancer. Recently, I have been diagnosed with a very aggressive cancer (Sarcomatoid Carcinoma). This fundraiser will help cover cancer care, second opinions, and supportive treatments so I can focus on healing.

My Journey:

In mid-July, what I thought was a routine health issue quickly turned into a life-altering journey. I was hospitalized at Emory Hospital for what was believed to be a urinary tract infection. After two weeks of testing, doctors discovered not only a kidney infection and a recurring UTI, but also a serious bone infection.

I underwent extensive testing—including CT scans and MRIs—and was placed on a strong antibiotic treatment that had to be administered intravenously every day for eight weeks. After completing that treatment, a follow-up MRI was ordered to check the progress of the infection. That scan revealed something unexpected: a mass in my bladder.

In early December, after further evaluation by a urologist and a cancer specialist, a biopsy was performed. The results confirmed our worst fear—I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer (Sarcomatoid Carcinoma).

In the weeks that followed, my doctors discussed surgical options and ordered additional CT scans to determine whether the cancer had spread. Those scans showed that the cancer in my bladder had begun to grow. At that point, Myra and I knew we needed specialized care, so we reached out to the Winship Cancer Institute, where we met with an oncologist who specializes in this type of cancer. The treatment plan includes chemotherapy and immunotherapy, which I began on December 17th.

While I am grateful to have access to care, the financial reality has been overwhelming. Our insurance does not cover out-of-network specialists, making second opinions extremely costly. In addition to conventional treatment, we are also exploring supportive and integrative therapies to strengthen my body and improve my ability to fight this disease—expenses that are not covered by insurance.
