Support Sue’s Recovery

On Saturday, August 10th my mom was life flighted to Duluth where the doctors found she had a hemorrhagic stroke that also caused a subdural hematoma. She had to have emergency brain surgery to go in and relieve the pressure inside her skull. The surgery was successful. Her CT scans and MRI also showed a fistula on a different part of her brain which resulted in another surgery to go in and close off the connection between the vessels and the fistula to prevent another bleed. This surgery was only partially successful as they weren’t able to reach all of the vessels to “cure” the fistula. This means my mom will have to undergo yet another surgery to block the rest of the connections. They are unsure if they will be able to go in intravenously again or if they will have to open up her skull and go in that way. She spent a week in the ICU and is now in a normal recovery room waiting to be transferred to an inpatient rehabilitation center until she is able to have her next surgery. She will most likely have to go back to the rehabilitation center afterwards as well.
With all of this, it is unknown when my mom will be able to return to work. The last thing we want is for her to be worrying about money right now when the most important thing is for her to heal and get better. We are beyond grateful for all of the support we have received during this difficult time.
