This GoFundMe is for SueEllen Thomas and Her Family

SueEllen Thomas is a dear family friend, a devoted single mother of three, and a beloved member of the community. For more than 20 years, SueEllen has been a bright, caring presence in local schools, including Glorietta Elementary and OIS, as well as at Dougherty Valley HS and Concord HS. As a teacher, administrator, parent, and local basketball coach, SueEllen has poured kindness, positivity, and joy into the lives of so many families. SueEllen and the Thomas family are now facing an incredibly difficult chapter and need the support of the community around them.

In April 2025, SueEllen was diagnosed with stage 3 triple negative breast cancer and endured more than a year of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, finishing treatment in May 2026. Since then, SueEllen has continued to face serious health complications, including Addisonian Crisis, due to the severity of treatment. After a recent hospital admission, the family learned that the cancer has metastasized to SueEllen’s liver, wrapped around the spinal cord and vertebrae, and infiltrated the lungs. SueEllen is now recovering from emergency spinal surgery and facing a much longer road ahead.

Donations will help ease overwhelming medical debt, cover medical bills, living expenses, and ongoing health care as SueEllen has been out of work for the last year and a half and will need to remain out of work to focus on recovery. Any support, whether through a donation, sharing this fundraiser, or simply spreading the kind of kindness SueEllen has always shown to others, would mean so much to SueEllen’s family.
