That ended when I was fired after a pro-Israel advocacy group launched a smear campaign against me for criticizing Israel online. My lawsuit is about more than my job; it's a fight for the free speech rights of countless Americans who are being silenced by the same playbook.

I was a very successful music teacher at Valley Catholic k-12 in Beaverton, OR. I've always gotten rave reviews, no complaints. Politics was not part of my curriculum, yet StopAntisemitism.org contacted my school on August 21, 2024, demanding that I be fired using false claims of antisemitism. There were no local complaints about my social media. The complaints came from outside the state and from Israel and the UK. The complaints originated from StopAntisemitism headquarters in WA DC and their Encino California office.

StopAntisemitism monitored my personal Sue Lewis Facebook and falsely claimed that I’m teaching students to hate Jews, and that I:

• “call on Hamas to destroy Israel” - They supplied no evidence for this false claim.

• “the IDF deliberately killed some of its own citizens on 10/7” - They objected to a share I posted from Haaretz, an Israeli newspaper, which revealed the IDF's deliberate involvement in Israeli casualties on October 7, aimed at thwarting hostage negotiations, as per the 'Hannibal Directive' policy.

• “denounces Hamas atrocities on 10/7 that killed innocent Israeli victims.” Yes, I said that, which is emphatically NOT antisemitic.

On the same day, August 21, 2024, my boss, Beckie Hocker - Music Director at Valley Catholic - fired me. She steadfastly refused to say why. I discovered the reason a month later through comment notifications from my business Facebook page. That led me to the first page of Google, Twitter, Facebook, Quora, and Instagram. Below are just a couple of examples of their online claims:

“StopAntisemitism was disturbed to see a high school music teacher spewing vile Jew-hatred on her social media. Oregon-based Sue Lewis claimed Israel killed its own citizens on 10/7, called upon Hamas to destroy Israel, and denounced the atrocities of Hamas against innocent Israeli victims. Thanks to our advocacy, Sue Lewis has been terminated by her employer, Valley Catholic High School.”

These are just a few examples of the many smears that went on for months. I had to file a police report due to violent threats.

After a year long search, I have retained an amazing attorney who is dedicated to the cause. He's outraged how antisemitism has been weaponized to chill free speech and degrade democracy in America. He's not cheap but he is very experienced, pissed off, and ready to fight like hell for this righteous cause.

Valley Catholic will not be included as a defendant in the lawsuit. These hate groups use mafia tactics on the employers too. They stiff arm businesses, schools, universities, hospitals to do as they are told or face smear campaigns themselves which could ruin their business.
