Support Sue Chambers Fahrenkrug's Family in Crisis
Donation protected
Hello. I’m putting together a GoFundMe for my friend Sue Chambers Fahrenkrug. We have been friends since Jr. High School, so roughly 47 years. Her husband, Jerry Fahrenkrug, was recently diagnosed with bladder cancer that unfortunately has spread to his bones and bone marrow. In August, he went to the ER in their town twice with back pain. Both times, he was given fluids, a pain med, and sent home. The third trip to the ER was made to a nearby town instead of going back to where they had been going. They knew something was wrong because Jerry was in severe back pain again. This hospital did X-rays and discovered the tumor on his bladder. They admitted him, and the following day he had the tumor removed. Through tests, it was determined to be malignant and that it had spread. He was in the hospital for 9 days and received one dose of chemo at half strength. The doctor informed him that he could not continue with chemo as it would kill him. They started immunotherapy. After only one treatment, he required 3 blood transfusions. His oncologist determined at that time there was no other treatment they could offer. Jerry is now under Hospice care at home. His wife, Sue, is his primary caregiver. A hospice nurse comes twice a week, and an aide comes for a couple of hours Monday through Friday. On the weekends, Sue is his full-time caregiver. Jerry has been on disability since 2021, after having a stroke. He had 2 more strokes in 2023. He previously worked where they made forklift tires. Sue is employed full-time but had used her PTO clear back in August when he was first hospitalized. She is going through some hard times trying to pay all the household bills and medical bills only on Jerry’s disability funds. I would like to help her get caught up on bills. If you could make any donation to help this family facing a terminal illness and interrupted wages, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
