On October 4, our friend Sue Britt was involved in a boating accident that resulted in a significant neck injury. She underwent surgery to repair the damage and had a stabilizing rod placed in her neck. Thankfully, the surgery was successful, and Sue has been showing incredible strength and resilience every step of the way.

After spending a week in intensive care, Sue was moved to the hospital’s rehabilitation center, where she continues working tirelessly on her recovery. Her determination and positive spirit have been nothing short of inspiring. Each day, she makes progress, but the road ahead remains long and challenging.

Sue is expected to be discharged from rehab sometime in November and will then begin many months of outpatient recovery and physical therapy. Although she will receive short- and long-term disability benefits that replace just over half of her income, she is still facing considerable out-of-pocket costs for continued therapy and medical treatment over the coming year.
