Dear Family and Friends,

We’re reaching out to you today with a heavy heart to share some challenging news about mom's health. Sue was was recently diagnosed with a kidney mass that we’d just began to meet with doctors to address when she unexpectedly required emergency colon surgery on December 26th. We were wrapping our heads around kidney treatments and options, when she was rushed to Strong where she remains today, recovering from this colon surgery and preparing for a transition home that will require both home/lifestyle modifications as well as physical therapy. We can’t move forward with kidney treatment until we are out of the woods with her recovery from colon surgery - so that is a future battle we’re preparing for.

Those who know Sue, know that she is fiercely independent and very private, never wanting to be a burden to anyone, so setting up a go-fund-me was not an easy or entirely comfortable decision for the family to make. Those who know her also know that she lost her husband, Ray, a little over a year ago, and in 2020 dealt with a life-threatening battle with pneumonia and ARDS; these past years have taken a toll on her physically, emotionally, and of course, financially. Despite the physical and emotional toll, she is determined to regain her health and continue living life to the fullest so she can watch her grandchildren Marissa, Rachael, Bryce, Jojo and her numerous nieces and nephews grow into adulthood and to spend time with her children, mother, siblings, friends, and co-workers.

As you can imagine, medical expenses for ER, ambulance, emergency surgery and ongoing hospital care at Strong are already staggering and we only expect them to rise as we transition to at-home care and start to tackle her kidney diagnosis.

We're humbly asking for your support in this time of need. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant difference in helping us cover the medical bills and the costs associated with Sue/mom’s care.
