Dear Friends, Family and Loyal Art Collectors of Su Abbott,

Our favorite painter suffered a bit of a calamity at her beloved art studio she's had since 2014 on Monday night this week. A sprinkler head above randomly burst spewing rusty water all over the nearly 1300 square foot workspace resulting in at least 6 inches of flooding across the floor and water damage to nearly every surface. Thankfully a studio neighbor heard the break as it occurred but by the time a few others around the property were able to determine the source and could shut the water off significant, irreparable damage had been done. The list of lost items is long and includes large area rugs, her favorite couch, work tables, various workshop tools, several work-in-progress paintings, and miscellaneous art supplies amongst creative intangibles not covered by insurance. Remarkably, her collection of completed work was stored away from the heaviest of the flooding and of course was first to be removed and taken off site as clean up commenced that night.

The studio is presently unusable as remediation is being conducted. An enormous section of water soaked drywall had to be removed and once no moisture is present it will all be reconstructed. At this point, it is unclear when she will be able to return and begin the process of restoring and rebuilding her sacred creative space. The timing for Su to not be able to work there couldn't be worse as this is her busiest season of the year for painting and exhibiting at art festivals and some will unfortunately have to be cancelled. Aside from the extensive loss of studio contents, the loss of potential revenue from upcoming art festivals is a hardship that hopefully can be helped with your kind support. I know Su's heart will be full of gratitude to her community as she works to overcome this setback.
