My name is Mattie Bledsoe Hayes, owner of Oklahoma Style BBQ, and I’m reaching out to support my dear friend and fellow business owner, Miss Stutts. Both of us have been serving the North Tulsa community with our BBQ since the early 1990s—Miss Stutts opened her doors in January 1993, and I followed in July of the same year. We’ve never competed, only supported each other as two women dedicated to our neighborhood.
Recently, the City of Tulsa repaired the streets right in front of Stutts BBQ. The construction caused a significant drop in daily business, and I saw her on TV sharing her struggle. The very next day, she borrowed a brisket from me because hers wasn't ready due to streets reopening so she could just to open up. At 84 years old, Miss Stutts is still working hard to keep her restaurant going, and I deeply admire her resilience. I know firsthand how hard it is—when the city repaired the street in front of my own restaurant years ago, I nearly lost my business and had to make great sacrifices to stay open.
Now, I want to help Miss Stutts the way our community has always helped each other. The funds raised here will go directly to her to cover lost costs and help keep her doors open. Your support means everything to us. Thank you for standing with Miss Stutts and helping her continue to serve North Tulsa.
