Support Students' Journey to OM World Finals

Donation protected

This extraordinary group of fifth grade students from Leonardo Da Vinci Elementary, along with their two amazing coaches, have qualified for the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals! They have put countless hours in writing their own script, building props, creating costumes, and problem solving along the way. They placed third in the Regional Competition which entered them into the State Competition on March 8th in Concord, California. After more hard work preparing for the State Competition, the team placed First overall in their division! The shock and excitement on their faces was priceless, as they earned their spot in the World Finals at Michigan State University this May. The World Finals hosts 10,000 people of all ages, coaches, and volunteers from 33 states, and 15+ countries.

While it is extremely exciting to qualify for the World Finals, the expense for this kind of trip is quite high. We have the cost of all of the flights, as well as 4 days of campus lodging, including meals for the students and their parent chaperones. $5,500 would cover the cost of all 7 kids for their dorm rooms and meal plan. Please consider helping this wonderful group of kids so their inspiring journey can continue! Keep on the look out for a thank you video all the way from Lansing, Michigan!

WHAT IS ODYSSEY OF THE MIND??

Odyssey of the Mind (OM™) teaches students how to develop and use their natural creativity to become problem-solvers. Imagine being faced with a problem that requires an original solution. It can be frightening. Now imagine not being afraid to solve that problem – that is what OM members learn. This skill and self-confidence will carry over to all areas of their lives. OM brings the classroom to life as students apply what they learn and combine it with their interests and passions to solve our unique open-ended problems. OM also emphasizes teamwork, budgeting, time management, public speaking, and so much more. This international program is designed to help students at all learning levels grow as individual learners, grow as team members, and to reach their full potential.
