For 71 years, The Spectrum has provided an essential service to the UB community free of charge. Our student journalists have worked tirelessly to produce award-winning journalism that inspires change. Dozens of students have won national journalism awards. Even more have gone onto careers at local, regional and national publications. This is a testament to the generations of students who have worked day-and-night to deliver an impactful product for the benefit of the UB community.

But putting together a high-quality publication comes with a steep price tag. As we continue to shift toward a digital-first format, we are confronted with a number of rising costs: staff salaries, printing, digital equipment, web development and insurance.
