Support Stuart's Road to Recovery

Hello, my name is Tami Rhea, the oldest daughter of Stuart and Kathy Salisbury. As many of you may know, on February 3rd, I had a well check done on my parents after knowing they were hit hard with snow and knowing they both missed numerous doctor appointments. Daddy ended up being taken by ambulance to the hospital and was shortly moved to Syracuse afterwards. While in Syracuse, they discovered he had vascular disease and had to undergo a bypass. During the procedure, he had to have a toe amputated. Maybe nothing serious to many, but a significant challenge for a 77-year-old man. He was then transported to Carthage for rehabilitation. This rehabilitation center is less than good, and between my niece going to the facility and assuring they are doing their job and taking care of him and me calling the ombudsman program, he finally got to be on the road to recovery. So we thought!

On Tuesday, March 18, he was transported to Syracuse hospital for a follow-up. We had hopes for him to return home but had to stay because there were two more toes infected. They have since gone in and removed portions of those toes. Right at this moment, we are unsure of the next steps, and as I know more, I will update. I do know that the rehabilitation center is costly even with insurance, but with my mom's own health issues, she cannot take care of him at home, so I’m sure he will be heading back to rehabilitation. On top of all the medical expenses, there is the traveling back and forth that is taking a toll on my mom. This is nothing my parents are requesting, but it is something I am because I don’t know what more to do until I can get up there in May. In June, they will be married 58 years, and that’s a long time with someone; right now, the two are completely lost without one another. This help would be greatly appreciated by myself, and I know it will be by them.
