To our beloved family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts and unwavering hope that we reach out to you today to ask for your support in helping someone very dear to us.
Our cherished friend, father, and husband, Stuart White, has been battling end-stage renal disease caused by autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). Over the years, this condition has severely impacted his health, from painful ruptured cysts on his kidneys, to severe inflammation that has caused his abdomen to swell, giving the appearance of a “beer belly.”
Since receiving his diagnosis, Stuart has faced it head-on. He quit smoking, gave up alcohol, made dramatic dietary changes and adapted to a strict medication regimen. Even with all of these efforts, the disease continues to progress and his condition has now reached a critical point and he urgently needs a kidney transplant.
Anyone who knows Stuart knows he is the first to step up for others whether with financial help, practical support, thoughtful advice, a listening ear, or his unwavering sense of humor. He has touched many lives, and it’s no exaggeration to say that a simple conversation with him can leave a lasting impression. He is the kind of man who gives without hesitation and rarely asks for anything in return.
But now, it’s our turn to give back.
Stuart has never been comfortable asking for help, he worries about being a burden to others. However, we his family and friends, know that helping him is not a burden, it’s a privilege. It’s our chance to show him how deeply he is loved and how much he means to all of us.
We have been exploring both local and international transplant options. Unfortunately, donor availability and medical uncertainties locally have made the process slow and uncertain. The safest and fastest option currently available appears to be an international transplant and time is of the essence.
His wife, Lilianna, has stepped forward as a potential living donor, and his eldest daughter, Chloe, is undergoing testing but must wait 6 months for results due to the hereditary nature of the disease. If neither proves to be a viable match, we are hoping to identify other potential living donors as early as possible. If you are willing to be tested, especially if you have blood type O+ and are open to exploring donating a kidney as a last resort, please contact Stuart or Lilianna.
Of course, all of this comes with significant financial costs from travel, testing, surgery, post-operative care, and recovery support. To help cover these expenses, we have launched a GoFundMe campaign with a goal of $500,000US.
This sum will cover the cost of the surgery at University of Chicago medical facility and will help with the cost for the three months that Stuart will have to live in the US. This WILL NOT cover the cost of then the post-surgery medications Stuart will have to stay on.
A Republic Bank BDS$ and USD$ account has also been setup, you can message for more details or contact Barry Mayers
We humbly ask you to consider donating whatever you can to help us give Stuart the chance he deserves a chance at life, health, and many more years with his family and friends. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference.
Please help us keep this incredible man with us, a man who has given so much to others without ever expecting anything in return. Let’s now come together to give him our love, our support, and his best chance at recovery.
With heartfelt thanks,
The loving family and friends of Stuart White
