I’m Stephanie, a registered nurse for over 40 years and the relative of a striking nurse at Henry Ford Genesys. Studies have shown patient to nurse ratio is an important aspect of providing safe patient care. Despite this the chief nursing officer at Henry Ford Genesys has argued in negotiations that ratios don’t matter. Pre covid the hospital employed approximately 1300 nurses. Prior to the nurses striking on September 1, 2025 there were approximately 750 nurses. Henry Ford Genesys

was unable to hire nurses as they pay approximately $5-10 per hour less than either local hospitals Hurley or McLaren. So with unsafe working conditions due to high patient to nurse ratios the nurses went out on strike 9/1/2025. Henry Ford is well known as a “union busting” hospital. They have either failed to show up for negotiations or have negotiated in bad faith. As of today this is the 77th day of the strike. Meanwhile they are paying agency nurses approximately $4,000 to $8000 per week to staff the hospital while the striking nurses are barely managing financially. The purpose of this GoFundMe is to raise money to support the nurses and pay them for lost wages, as well as future lost wages until the strike is resolved. These funds are to be distributed by the nurses union and If there is any residual money it will be donated to the Eastern food bank of Michigan, a charitable organization.
