Support street vendors impacted by ICE raids

LA Street Vendor Solidarity Fund

This month, street vendors in Los Angeles have been terrorized by masked immigration authorities who are detaining people indiscriminately. Immigrants rights groups and community members have confirmed that street vendors are being detained while at work. Immigrants are being detained without cause, without due process, and by federal agents who refuse to share their identification and where they are being transported to.

These incidents have spread fear throughout Los Angeles. Street vendors are afraid to work, and those that are risking vending in our communities, are faced with little foot traffic. For many vendors, even one day of lost wages will mean they will not be able to put food on their families table or pay their rent.

The LA Street Vendor Campaign is fielding more and more calls from street vendors and their families who are struggling financially. Many relatives and friends ask for support in identifying vendors’ whose whereabouts are unknown.

We are raising resources to support the various needs of street vendors during this time: food supplies, rent, and more.

We anticipate a tremendous demand for resources, and we aim to help as many street vendors as we can. Funding decisions will be made by the LA Street Vendor Campaign committee members: Community Power Collective, East LA Community Corporation, Inclusive Action for the City, and Public Counsel. Each of these organizations has spent over 15 years working with street vendors, advocating for policies that support an inclusive economy, and providing relief during the COVID-19 pandemic and the most recent Los Angeles wildfires.

Larger donations to this fund can be made payable to Inclusive Action for the City or Community Power Collective. 100% of resources raised for this Fund will be passed through to street vendors.

A report on assistance delivered will be provided on this GoFundMe. Privacy of recipients will be respected, unless permission is granted.

The Fund will be raising resources as the crisis continues and until ICE ends the raids.

Las decisiones de financiación las tomarán los miembros del comité de la Campaña de Vendedores Ambulantes de Los Ángeles: Community Power Collective, East LA Community Corporation, Inclusive Action for the City y Public Counsel. Cada una de estas organizaciones lleva más de 15 años trabajando con vendedores ambulantes, abogando por pólizas que apoyan una economía inclusiva y brindando ayuda durante la pandemia de COVID-19 y los recientes incendios forestales de Los Ángeles.
