Hi all! I’m Jessica, momma to 2 kids, 3 fur children, and grandma chicken to 4 chicks.
Around midnight, on the night of Hurricane Helene, I heard this tiny meow coming from my garage. I checked under my car to see this tiny grey kitten under my car, meowing and sneezing. In full surprise, I called a friend, and he helped pick the name, Stormy, for our new little friend.
Our best guess is that Stormy hitched a ride under my friend’s car and made the 10-minute trip to my house earlier in the evening.
I brought him down some fresh water, a can of Friskies, made a makeshift litter box, and closed him off in the garage from the other animals.
Later that morning, I noticed he had grown more congested and sounded like he was wheezing. After speaking with a couple of local vets and rescues, finding no luck at getting him matched with a rescue, I made the decision to just take him to my amazing vet. I’m so glad I did. Stormy was negative for feline leukemia and HIV but was diagnosed with a viral respiratory infection and possible kitty herpes. He received dewormer and his first vaccine to help jump-start his immune responses and respiratory system. I have also started him on an amino acid supplement to boost his immune system further. Stormy is estimated to be 8-9 weeks old, weighing 2.22 pounds on Friday.
It’s going to take time, but he is expected to make a full recovery from the respiratory virus and should be able to get the herpes symptoms under control. Once this happens, we can begin socializing him with the big kitties and Riley.
Through the amazing generosity of several friends and family, I was able to get Stormy’s first vet visit covered entirely. I was even able to get him his own little bed, a few little toys, and a scratch tower to have in his safe space. He is expected to have 2 more visits, along with getting neutered, over the next 6-8 weeks. It is my hope that the village will be able to help cover as much as possible of those costs. I will also be looking into vouchers for low-cost neutering.
Thank you so much in advance for any help you can offer. Thank you so much for helping my family give this sweet baby the best start at life! He’s already melting hearts ♥️
All funds raised will go towards Stormy’s vet bills and overall care in these first few months of life.
My family and I are fully committed to giving little Stormy all the love and care he deserves to thrive.
