Support Storm’s Fight with Cancer
Donation protected
Hi everyone, I am setting up this fundraiser for Storm and her family as the navigate a cancer diagnosis. Storm is 9 years old and possibly the sweetest girl I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. She lives in central Maine with her family. Storm loves to write and tell stories and is so helpful. She has such a friendly, quiet personality and always aims to please.
In May during a doctors appointment examining Storm’s torticollis a lump was found on her neck. Scans and labs were ordered and Storm endured many blood draws that day, having to stay very still. Everything was sent to oncology. An oncologist was in contact with them and agreed it looked like thyroid cancer. Storm has been so strong and brave for a little girl who had to ask, “what’s cancer?”
After going back and forth with oncologist’s in Portland, it was agreed that due to Storm’s age and size she would need to go to Boston for an official biopsy. Storm could not be put under anesthesia and would have to have 8 needles in her neck and stay very still. Storm did awesome and proved to be a fighter that day.
The results came back positive for Malignant Papillary Thyroid Cancer. This diagnosis has rocked her and her family’s world. It was decided that Storm’s thyroid and most of her lymph nodes needs to be removed and she will be on hormone replacement medication the rest of her life and will require radiation treatment.
The funds that are raised will go towards medical bills as insurance most likely will not be covering out of state costs, gas, food for the family, and lodging fees. Storm will most likely be going to Boston for her cancer care for the rest of her childhood. Any donations help greatly and the family greatly appreciates the support. We are hoping to show Storm just how loved and strong she is. We are hoping to spread the tag #StormStrong.
