Stinky has been my companion since the day she was born, and she means the world to me. Just a few days ago, I noticed something was seriously wrong—she could barely walk to me, and I realized she had lost a lot of weight in just a week. My dad thought she was just being lazy, but when I picked her up, I knew it was more than that. I work long hours and wish I had noticed sooner, but we caught it just in time.
We rushed her to the only open vet that night, even though it was far away. The vet told us Stinky had a severe infection, and her stomach was filling with pus. I had thought she was just gaining weight again, but her arms and face were getting thinner while her belly grew. The vet said her fever was dangerously high and her gums were white—she had a 50/50 chance to pull through. Thankfully, after a shot to bring her fever down, she started to improve. The next morning, we took her to another vet for more tests and medication. They confirmed the infection and gave us special food and approved her meds.
Today is day three of her being sick, and while she’s eating and drinking a little on her own, she’s still not out of the woods. If she declines, we’ll need to take her to the ER vet, and there’s a chance she’ll need her stomach drained, which could cost thousands. My boyfriend has been selling his treasured collection to help, but the costs are adding up fast. We’ve found some credit options, but we need help to make sure Stinky gets the care she needs.
Thank you so much to anyone that can help. This cat is my child, my everything—I’ve had her since she was born. It helps so much, even just sharing this around. I appreciate it all so much.
