In January of 2024, Stinky was found running down the street in South Sacramento in the pouring rain with no owner in sight. She had wounds and it is suspected she had been hit by a car. We loaded her up and took her to Bradshaw Animal Shelter, where she waited three days to see if someone would claim ownership. On January 13, after the 3 day waiting period, I adopted her. Unfortunately, 5 months later, during her routine spay, it was found that she had a massive tumor that tested positive for ovarian cancer. She was only two years old. We thought the cancer was gone since the tumor was removed with the spay, but in August of this year my husband Dallas noticed Stinky had abdominal bloating. I thought she was just getting fat, but it continued to grow. In October, I rushed her to the emergency vet and it was determined that her abdominal cavity was filled with fluid. After extensive testing and an abdominocentesis that drained over 4 Liters of fluid, the vet diagnosed her with metastatic ovarian cancer, with metastasis to her lymph nodes and abdominal wall as well as possibly her liver. Every month, Stinky has an abdominocentesis and lab work in order to stay alive. These costs are adding up, and my Stinky still has a great quality of life despite the fluid accumulation. All donations will be put towards Stinky’s monthly abdominocentesis. She plays, shreds her toys, and loves her daily walks.
