My daughter Stevi has always been the heart of our family and community. As the eldest sibling, she’s been a guiding light for her younger sisters, helping them in every aspect of their lives. Stevi’s selflessness shines through in her countless volunteer hours, her willingness to help strangers, and her constant support for friends. She’s the person who can’t walk past someone in need without stopping to help, and she’s always seeking ways to make life better for those around her. Even as I’ve faced serious health challenges that have left me unable to walk for long periods, Stevi has stepped up—researching therapies, making healthy choices for our family, and never letting up in her care and encouragement.
This fall, Stevi will begin her journey at Howard State University’s nursing program, becoming the first on her father’s side to attend college. She’s earned a four-year, tuition-paid ROTC scholarship and will give back by serving as an officer nurse practitioner in the Army after graduation. Despite working two jobs and maintaining a high GPA—ranked 31 out of 516 in her class—there are still significant expenses we need help with. We’re raising funds to cover our family’s trip from Arizona to DC, our stay in the DMV area, and Stevi’s dorm essentials and campus living needs. With classes starting August 18 and move-in between August 11-15, we hope to secure support by the first week of August.
This opportunity means everything to our family. Financial struggles have been a reality, and I’m still paying off my own student loans, but Stevi’s determination and her sisters’ dreams of following in her footsteps inspire us every day. Your support will help Stevi start her college journey strong, build a legacy for her siblings, and make a real difference in the world as a future psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and Army officer.
