Support Steve’s Heart Attack Recovery from Bypass Surgery

Dear friends and family - I am starting this fundraiser for Steve Mikawa, my father, who had recently suffered from a mild heart attack. After being rushed to Henrico Doctors’ Hospital in Richmond, VA, he had an immediate triple bypass surgery after many tests and is now in recovery.

For over a decade, hypertension and hypercholesterolemia were concurrent conditions for my father, mainly from the buildup of stress and exhaustion from work to support our family as the backbone. Countless sacrifices were made by him, to make ends meet. And I, as his daughter, could not appreciate him enough, and deeply regret how I am unable to physically be by his side, as I live thousands of miles away, in Tokyo, Japan.

With my mother being in charge of not only taking care of my father, but also my two younger brothers and dogs, all by herself, our family is experiencing great difficulty, also with financial strain. Although my father’s surgery itself was successful with the help of his determination, cardiologist, and nurses, he is currently very weak, with months of recovery, and nearly a 6 figure hospital bill waiting ahead.
