Donation protected
If you have ever had the chance to meet Steve, consider yourself lucky. If Steve is one of your friends, or even better, your family, you are beyond blessed.
Steve is a one in a trillion. His personality fills a room. His humor, laughter and kindness is contagious. He is the first to help someone in need, and is always one to enjoy all the moments in life. Never taking one for granted!
He is a son, a brother, an uncle and a cousin. But, the three roles he holds so close to his heart is husband, father and Papa. He lives for his wife, Heidi, their kids and grandkids. He loves with his whole heart. He is pure gold!
A lot of you are asking how you can help. And with so many uncertainties still, it is hard to pinpoint anything exact other than medical costs. Time off of work for both Steve and Heidi, traveling back and forth to Providence and much needed medical supplies to make being at home easier. It all costs money. At this time, this is what will help them the most. If you are able to help in any way, whether it be a donation, or sharing their gofund me. It would be greatly appreciated.
All our love!!
On August 19th Steve went to the hospital with discomfort and what he thought was a sickness he couldn’t shake. What he learned that day, flipped his world upside down. The almost definite diagnosis, Lymphoma.
In the days to come while waiting for future tests and biopsies, Steve’s symptoms became more severe. A lot of sleeping, no appetite, nausea and lots of discomfort.
Friday, the 23rd Steve went into work and left with what looked like short term disability.
By the 29th Steve’s pain had become unbearable and signs of jaundice were evident. A trip to the ER was the plan. What Steve didn’t know is he wouldn’t be coming home that day.
Doctors at the hospital quickly admitted him and found the closest hospital with an oncology department. So off the ambulance took him to Providence.
Once admitted to Providence, they quickly began tests, scans, and biopsies.
Between August 30th and September 9th it’s been a whirlwind of tests, scans and biopsies. Prognosis? He has Defuse Large B-cell lymphoma.
Treatment? RCHOP, a combination of 5 heavy duty medications. 6 rounds, 1 every 3 weeks for the next 18 weeks.
Doctors started two of the medications on September 5th, steroids and Rituxan hoping this would improve his liver function. But it didn’t. Pivoting a bit from the original plan, they started a low dose of chemo on September 7th.
As of September 9th Steve has completed his first round of chemo, and is still struggling with his liver numbers. They aren’t getting better. We need these numbers to go down so he can get a full dose of chemo and be on the road to home.
Please keep Steve in your thoughts and prayers. We all want to see Steve home!
