I know many have followed my Brother in Law, Steven’s, story over the last several weeks; many have asked how they could help, and many have found very appreciated ways to help throughout this time already! They/we as family could never say thank you enough!!

As many know Steven “Steveo” was taken by ambulance to the ER as a full code on 10/15/24. He had 3 seizures they determined to be caused by swelling in his brain from a 2.4cm frontal lobe mass. He was Intubated to protect his airways & sedated for 24 hours. While in the ICU he went into afib, which resulted in him needing to have a cardioversion to shock his heart back into rhythm. One week after his initial admission to the hospital Steven had a 10 hour craniotomy (13 hours in the operating room total) to remove the tumor from his frontal lobe. The tumor was more involved than originally anticipated, but thankfully the neurosurgeon was able to remove it all. Pathology showed it was a grade 1 benign meningioma. He spent a total of 13 days in the hospital; 8 of which were in the ICU.

Moving forward Steveo will be out of work for 6-12 weeks and possibly unable to drive for up to 6 months due to the seizures. He will have many follow up appointments with the neurosurgeon, neurology, cardiology, and his PCP.

In true “I’m not getting old” fashion; Amy and Steven were not prepared for such a rollercoaster of events and the stress that would come along with it. Steven did not carry disability insurance and will be stretching his PTO to bring home some pay for as long as possible, however it is not enough to cover his full check and not will not extend the amount of time that he is expected to be out of work. Amy has also used all of her PTO, plus will be needing to take more time to go to follow up appointments with Steveo. And let’s not even mention it’s now the holiday season and the medical bills that are soon to be rolling in.

Please do not feel obligated to give! I (Lara) have had several people ask how they can give/help and could only imagine the stress this has added to just their every day lives. Continued prayers for Steveo’s healing would be appreciated. Once again we would like to thank all of those that have prayed for, supported Amy and Steven, and loved on their kiddos (Layne and Sissy) throughout this difficult time! God is soo good in the support system he has put in their lives and the healing he has granted Steven so far.
