Dear Respected Donors,
I am writing to urgently request your immediate assistance in relocating my family home in Stevens Village. Our house is in imminent danger of being lost to riverbank erosion and with break-up season approaching rapidly, time is of the essence.
My wife and I are respected elders in our community. We have lived in Stevens Village for over 50 years. This house represents not only our shelter but also our family's heritage and decades of memories.
When we approached the Village Council for use of community equipment to accomplish this initial move, our request was denied. This situation has placed us in a desperate position, facing the potential loss of our lifelong home.
This matter requires urgent attention. The situation has reached a critical point:
We need funds to obtain equipment and assistance for relocating the house to an existing foundation pad on our property. FEMA was prepared to complete the remainder of the relocation process with their own equipment, but the Stevens Village Council denied permission for this emergency intervention to proceed.
We have exhausted all local avenues for assistance. The timeline for FEMA's assistance offer may have already expired, leaving us at serious risk of losing our home when the river ice breaks up. This denial of assistance appears to follow a concerning pattern where certain families in Stevens Village face barriers to accessing community resources and emergency services.
I understand that this request comes outside regular channels but the imminent threat to our home constitutes an emergency that cannot wait.
We now face the loss of everything we have built due to circumstances beyond our control.
