Steven, my husband, is the heart of our family and one of the most amazing human beings I have ever met. On December 18th, while working as a security guard at a local bar in Fall River, Massachusetts, Steven was shot during a violent incident. He was trying to protect others when a shooter fired through the door, hitting him in the lower back. The bullet caused catastrophic injuries—severe blood loss, damage to his intestines and gallbladder, and completely severed the main vein in his right leg. By the time he reached the hospital, Steven had lost all his blood and had to be resuscitated. He underwent emergency surgery to stop the bleeding and remove his gallbladder, but the damage was so extensive that he lost his leg above the knee, and later, all the way up to his hip. He also suffered stage 4 kidney failure and required 24-hour dialysis. Over the course of ten surgeries, Steven’s anatomy was completely rearranged, and he spent weeks in the trauma ICU fighting for his life. Through it all, he has shown incredible strength and resilience. Now, Steven is healing, but the road ahead is long. He was the main provider for our family, and we had just opened a t-shirt designing business, which we had to close due to his injuries. Medical bills and household expenses are piling up, and I am at the hospital every day caring for him. The funds raised will help cover medical costs, rehabilitation, and support our family as we navigate this new reality. Steven is an amazing husband, father, friend, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and son. He has always been there for others, and now he needs our help. I want to thank everyone in advance for anything they can do—whether it’s financial support, recommendations for rehab or services, or simply sharing our story. If you have any questions or want to help, please reach out to me, Carly, at [phone redacted]. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for supporting Steven and our family during this unimaginable time.
