On September 11, 2025, my husband Steven — the hardest working man I know — was in a life-changing accident while working a project four hours from home. He took the job because he wanted to provide for our family; he worked long, hot days in dry, blistering heat and stayed in an Airbnb with coworkers during the week. He would come home to me every weekend.
While driving back from work one day he called me and sounded exhausted. He said, “the road looks far like it’s a hallucination,” and then everything went wrong. I heard his truck flip multiple times on the phone. Seven minutes of silence followed — seven minutes I thought I’d lost my whole world. His coworker found him lying in a ditch; he had been ejected from the truck.
He was alive, but badly hurt. He was rushed by ambulance and then life-flighted to a trauma hospital. I drove hours to be with him. Since that day I have not left his side.
Injuries & what he’s facing right now: Ejection from vehicle; heavy head/face trauma (face covered in blood, stitches in lip), Breathing tube, neck brace, restraints at times while sedated.
Broken right leg; bruised left leg and hip; fractured back; fractured jaw, Collapsed lung and fluid in his lungs; bruised ribs and other internal trauma, Skin tears and severe bruising. He has had multiple surgeries and procedures and remains in active recovery and rehabilitation. He was so sedated and in pain he tried to remove tubes, so staff had to restrain him to keep him safe.
Why we need your help: Steven is our family’s provider. With him unable to work for an unknown length of time and mounting hospital bills, we are facing overwhelming medical costs and daily living expenses. I’m staying at the hospital with him around the clock — we spent our first wedding anniversary in a hospital room — and that means extra travel, missed work, and added stress. The road to recovery will be long: more surgeries, follow-up care, physical therapy, and time before he can return to work (if and when he is able).
How donations will be used: Every dollar will go directly to help our family through this recovery. Specifically: • Emergency and ongoing medical bills and hospital costs • Surgeries, imaging (CT/MRI), specialist visits, and medications • Rehab and physical therapy, durable medical equipment (crutches, wheelchair, brace) • Travel, gas, and lodging for family so we can be near the hospital and appointments • Rent, groceries, utilities, and basic living expenses while Steven cannot work • Any in-home care or home modifications he may need during recovery
From our hearts: We are so grateful he’s still here — I truly believe the fact he was ejected saved his life — but the physical, emotional, and financial toll is immense. We appreciate every prayer, share, and donation. If you can’t donate, sharing this fundraiser with your friends and networks helps more than you know. Your kindness gives Steven the chance to heal and helps keep our family afloat during an impossible time. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being here with us. — With love, Myla Williams
