My why:
Hi everyone,
I am Student-Doctor Steven Barsky. For those who don’t know me I’ve committed myself to becoming a life long learner in the medical field. A big part of my goal is to be able to serve the Latino community both here in the United States and around the world. Only 6% of physicians in the US are Latino! Coming from a Dominican background and being Vice-President of the Latino Medical Student Association at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM) I plan to represent and care for the Latino population throughout my career.
I’m excited to share that I’ve been given the incredible opportunity to go on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic as part of the medical team representing NYITCOM. We will be working with the Foundation For Peace (FFP) organization stationed in the capital, Santo Domingo, to provide much-needed medical services to impoverished areas with little access to medical care.
This experience is especially meaningful to me because of my deep family roots in the Dominican Republic. This mission trip is a chance for me to give back and care for the people who share my heritage. As well as, help me grow as a future physician and allow me to better represent and serve the Latino population.
I need your help to make this dream a reality. Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward covering the costs of the trip, including travel, lodging, medical necessities, and donations to FFP.
Thank you for your support in helping me serve and uplift the community that means so much to me!
