Hello cycling community and friends. The Chico Cycling Team is raising funds for our friend, teammate, and local legend Steve Twist. Steve was involved in a bike accident while riding down Skyway in Magalia CA on Saturday May 11th, 2024. He was taken by ambulance to Enloe Hospital where he spent three nights and was treated for a broken collarbone, concussion, and underwent surgery to repair a badly broken arm.

Steve is an experienced bike rider who has loved riding bikes his whole life. He races road and criteriums in the Masters 60+ division in the NCNCA and has graced many podiums. Steve can climb with the lightweights and packs a mean finishing sprint. He is also a talented local photographer, husband, and father of two sons. He frequently posts his pictures of the summer airport criterium and annual Wildflower events on Chico Area Group rides. Steve also donates his time as a board member of the Chico Cycling team.

In time, the body heals yet Steve will be left with medical bills and a destroyed bike. Yes, his beloved blue Focus climbing bike will be laid to rest. We think it is time for disc brakes anyways, and with the help of Performance Bicycle, will put at least some of these funds towards a new steed, if he chooses.
