Support Steve through prostate surgery recovery
Donation protected
If you’ve ever met Steve Garcia – you know there’s nothing like the optimism, wisdom, and joy he brings to the world.
Please help Steve get through prostate cancer surgery so that he can continue to bring those gifts to others. The Garcia family is preparing for medical expenses as high as $20k, and so, is setting a goal of raising at least $5k of support from friends and loved ones.
Our Steve Garcia is a Life Coach and former pastor of Celebration Community Church who recently was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He runs his own business with the explicit mission of mentoring young leaders of color in business, nonprofit, and ministry fields. Though treatable, we have been advised that he has a very aggressive form of cancer that is at risk of spreading.
Steve will undergo laparoscopic prostatectomy surgery on Thursday, November 10th. Though the Urologists are optimistic about Steve making a full-recovery post-surgery, there’s always room for concern when the cancer is as aggressive as this is.
Despite all of the uncertainty – Steve, his wife Bonnie, and the rest of the family are optimistic about the future he can look forward to. We hope the surgery will go smoothly and that Steve will be back to coaching, mentoring, and sharing his wisdom with the world very soon!
For any friends, family, or community members who want to show support for the Garcia family – you can make a donation above that will help ease the financial burden and stress on Steve and Bonnie during this time. As people may know, cancer treatment is not cheap. Though we hope that this will be the only procedure necessary, its cost and anticipated follow-up care expenses are already significant. Any support will allow Steve and Bonnie to focus on Steve's care, health, and healing rather than medical bills or lost income during recovery.
If you prefer, you can also make send a grocery or food delivery gift card through this MealTrain Link (Just choose from Instacart, DoorDash, or other gift cards on the left and send to the email in the MealTrain description).
More than any other support, we ask that you pray that Steve will make a full and speedy recovery. Healing from this type of surgery can vary greatly in length and difficulty, but we are ready for whatever is ahead. Whether you are able or moved to donate, please keep us in your prayers as we navigate this uncertain time. If you have any questions, you can reach out to Nate.
We deeply appreciate your love, encouragement, and prayers.
Love,
Steve’s Friends, Family, and Loved Ones
