Steve Rice is a longtime friend to myself and hundreds of others. He’s known as one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet—always making new friends, while still keeping close with those from his childhood, Sarasota High School, and the University of Florida. Steve has worked for the Safe Children Coalition for years and has dedicated much of his life to helping kids in different ways. For the past decade, one of his greatest joys has been working as a part-time DJ, bringing smiles to people’s faces at birthday parties, weddings, school events, and local hangouts.

Unfortunately, at a recent event, Steve suffered a severe fall while breaking down his DJ setup. The injury was serious—he couldn’t stand or walk without help, and after several X-rays and MRIs, doctors determined he needed surgery for multiple complete tears in his knee and quad. The surgery took place about a week ago, and Steve now faces a long recovery. He will only be able to do his day job working from home for months, but won't be able to DJ for quite some time, which means he’s also facing lost wages on top of mounting medical bills.
